New Events

We are accepting orders for Easter.  To assure delivery we need your order by March 15. call 919-621-1150 to order.

The Carolina Farm Stewardship Assn. Tour will be April 28-29.  Beginning at 12 noon on both days, lamb burgers, lamb dogs, and  gyros will be available .  On the evening of April 28, a five course wine dinner will be served in the Farm House at 6:30 pm.  Cost will be $75 per person all inclusive.

Marco Shaw of Piedmont Restaurant in Durham will be the chef for Captain John’s Fifth Annual Dinner..   Marco grew up in the Washington D.C. area and is a 1991 graduate of Randolph-Macon College.  Intending to take a one year break before entering medical school , he went to work at The Tobacco Company Restaurant in Richmond, VA.  He fell in love with the business and pursued an AD in Culinary Arts and Hotel Restaurant Management.  He then traveled the U.S. cooking at restaurants in New York City, New Orleans, Santa Fe and Portland, OR.  He opened Fife Restaurant in Portland in 2002.  Moving to Durham, he opened Piedmont Restaurant in 2010 with several local partners.

We are very pleased to be associated with Marco and Piedmont Restaurant.

Three New Upcoming Events

We have three new upcoming events some good eating and fun on the farm for fall.

August 30 There will be a dinner at 18 Seaboard restaurant in Raleigh featuring Animal Welfare Approved products from several farms.  Captain John’s Lamb will be one of the featured meats.  Details and reservations are available on the 18 Seaboard website.  The AWA website also has details as will information on the AWA program.  We have been AWA approved for four years and it is an honor to be approved and meet their standards.

 October 15 We will be hosting a dinner on the farm.  Jason Smith owner/chef at 18 Seaboard and Cantina 18 will be the caterer.  Of course our lamb will be the main course.  Other dishes will be Jason’s adaptation of dishes from the Pope Family Cookbook.  Details will be available by Oct. 1 on both this website as well as the 18 Seaboard site.

 November 11  As part of Sustainable Agriculture Conference sponsored by Carolina Farm Stewardship Association we will serve lunch and give riding tours of the farm.  Lunch will be Lamb Burgers, Lamb Dogs as well as selected dishes from the Pope Family Cookbook.  More details are available at www.carolinafarmstewards.org.

Up Coming Event

The Carolina Farm Stewardship Association annual farm tour will be April 16 &17.  Starting at noon each day we will be offering Lamb Burgers and Lamb Dogs.  There will be tours of the historic 150 year old farm house and riding tours of the farm. On the evening of the 16^th Chef Chad McIntyre of Market Restaurant in Raleigh will prepare a 5 course wine dinner. Cost is $75.00 per person, all inclusive.  Space is limited so make your reservations early by calling 919-621-1150.

Christmas at the Farm

Santa came to the farm this Christmas. Fun was had by young and old alike.

Our Past Events

Welcome to our Past Events page! This page will highlight some of our past events with  images and descriptions of some of the fun had here at the farm. We will start off highlighting our most recent event. We were host to a wonderful evening with Outstanding in the Field. This sold out event teamed the Outstanding in the Field crew, the renowned chief Shane Ingram, Four Square Restaurant, Durham and ONE Restaurant, Chapel Hill and Captain John S. Pope Farm. This spactacular event took place on Saturday September 18, 2010.
